What is Project DREAM?
Project DREAM raises money to provide students at all Twin Rivers Unified School District schools with academic enrichment activities that go beyond normal school funding. Project DREAM is a 501(c)(3) community-based nonprofit organization. The organization is all volunteer, with no paid employees.
Project DREAM is committed to inspiring Twin Rivers students’ love of learning and hope for the future by providing funds for college scholarships and experiences in the arts, outdoor education, and field trips outside of their immediate neighborhoods.
Why Twin Rivers?
Twin Rivers Unified School District serves about 26,500 students in northern Sacramento County, including the communities of North Sacramento, Del Paso Heights, Foothill Farms, North Highlands, McClellan, Gardenland, Rio Linda, Robla, Elverta, and North Natomas. About 81% of the Twin Rivers Unified School Districts students qualify for free or reduced price meals at school. Against this backdrop, academic achievement is improving, dropout rates are falling, and graduation rates are rising. Project DREAM complements this progress, providing activities that students would often otherwise not have.
How does Project DREAM raise money?
Project DREAM receives no public funds, but relies on tax deductible contributions from generous Twin Rivers Unified employees, community members, and local businesses.
Where does the money go?
Project DREAM’s primary focus is to enhance the educational experience of students by providing funds for field trips. With the support of Project DREAM, students venture out of their neighborhood to science camps and science centers, theaters, museums, farms, the ocean, college campuses, and more. Project DREAM provides teachers with mini grants to help offset the cost of the activities. Funding requests are received from all Twin Rivers schools.
